Eighteen years ago, Onno Lammers joined Prinzen. What began as a holiday job grew into a rewarding career in which he held various roles, continued to develop his skills and eventually found his place as Team Leader Projects.
Secure his own job satisfaction
Onno already had a great passion for technology. He studied metalworking, but then decided to enrol on a security course instead. “That course didn’t really seem to be the right fit for me after all, haha! Actually, there was one thing I’d always been sure of: it had to be something to do with metal and electronics.” So he went back to looking for something more suitable.
Through his father, Onno got in touch with the branch manager at Prinzen. “I was invited round for a cup of coffee, which soon led to a holiday job. Not long after that, I was able to progress further within the company through a BBL course in Mechatronics. Mechanical engineering was absolutely my thing. Especially combined with the informal working atmosphere and great colleagues.”
Found his place, step by step
After starting out as an assembly worker, Onno spent many years working in various assembly roles. This allowed him to get to know Prinzen, the machines and the people better and better. “In 2014, it was time to take the next step, and I moved on to become a Work Planner. Among other things, my role involved creating work instructions in SolidWorks”.
In the years that followed, Onno worked as a Project Leader, a role in which his technical knowledge, experience and communication skills came together. “Over the years, I’ve taken various courses and training programmes to further my development – from SolidWorks to business communication and project leadership.” What is he proud of? He doesn’t need to think about that for very long. “Standardising drawing templates to work more efficiently – I look back on that with a sense of pride. But also my personal development over all those years, and all the opportunities I’ve been given.”
That drive to keep growing has taken him another step forward within Prinzen. As of this year, Onno is Team Leader Projects. Together with the Projects Manager, he leads the team of Sales Engineers and Project Leaders, and ensures that projects run smoothly from preparation through to handover.

What makes working at Prinzen so enjoyable for Onno isn’t just the work itself. It’s also the people, the atmosphere and the way everyone gets on with one another. “There’s an informal and sociable atmosphere here. Everyone’s willing to help one another, which is lovely to see,” he says. “We have a flat organisational structure. As a result, there’s no noticeable hierarchy and it’s easy to speak to senior management. Everyone’s equal here, and that feels great.” There’s plenty of fun to be had outside work too. Parties, drinks and team activities are simply part of the package. That combination of hard work and having fun together suits Onno down to the ground.
He also feels that the staff are genuinely looked after here. “The staff are a top priority here. We’re given fresh soup and fruit, we can work flexibly, and they really do think along with you.”
And then, of course, there’s the technology. Because at Prinzen, you get to work on smart, diverse machines that the whole team is proud of. “We make great products and use cutting-edge technology,” says Onno. “Our machines are very diverse. And let’s be honest: who doesn’t love an egg?”
