Always with a smile and a helping hand; Marlous de Vries has been working with us since April 2025. She’s a busy bee who likes to take a hands-on approach and draws energy from working with others. In her own words, she shares how she found her way to the Vencomatic Group and her experiences here.
Let's introduce
Marlous, aged 42, lived in Breda for many years. There, she worked for a company specialising in metal engineering, where she really enjoyed working. But when love came along, she swapped Breda for Veldhoven. The commute to work turned out to be too long; she was spending a lot of time travelling to work. Marlous: “I started looking for work near my new home. It was very simple – I just used Google. I came across the Vencomatic Group through job vacancies on Google. I immediately got the same feeling as I did at my previous workplace, so it was a good fit.”

A role that suits
“I started in the Quality department, but it turned out not to be quite the right fit after all. On the one hand, that was a shame, but fortunately there were other roles available here, so we looked further into what would suit me,” says Marlous. She had already gained experience in logistics and metalworking in the past. “An internal move to the logistics department, where they also needed staff, made perfect sense.” And that’s where she now works with great enthusiasm in the role of Warehouse Officer.
When we ask Marlous about her typical working day, the word various which is served up quickly. She explains: “My working day starts at 8.00 am. We begin with the daily kick-off, where we discuss any bottlenecks, areas for improvement and issues we’ve come up against.” After the kick-off, the real work begins. “I usually start by entering all the orders that have come in, so my colleagues can get on with them. In between, I’m also in touch with buyers, for example if they’re looking for something that’s just arrived.” In her role, she’s hands-on and is regularly in contact with both colleagues and suppliers. And that suits her just fine. “Putting things away or sorting them out; I’m actually very active. Which is just as well, because I’m very energetic. Sitting on my bum in front of a computer all day isn’t for me, haha!”, she says with a laugh.

Staying fit, even outside work
What does Marlous look for in an employer? She doesn’t have to think twice: “Looking after your staff properly. I think that’s really important. The employee benefits here are very good. Take the VencoFIT programme, for example; I receive a monthly allowance from the Vencomatic Group. That really helps with the monthly cost of my gym membership. And we’re fanatical with colleagues too, because every Tuesday a small group of us go for a run together.” But Marlous is happy in other areas too. She looks back on last year: “The final months of 2025 were incredibly busy. We were told then that we could honestly say if it was getting too much. What’s more, we had a meeting which you could see as a sort of team-building exercise. Everyone was given the chance to speak up about what’s going well or where things could be improved, so that these issues could be addressed.”
Impressive innovations
Although Marlous knew nothing about the world behind the chicken and the egg, she is learning a great deal about the sector. “Since I’ve been working here, I’ve learnt a lot about what we produce here and how the poultry sector actually works. For example, there’s the new system that allows us to scan whether there’s a rooster or a hen in the egg, without it feeling any pain. Those are remarkable things.”

A place where you feel at home
As well as working hard, she also finds the job very enjoyable. Marlous: “It’s a fun place to work and there’s a great atmosphere. And they look after you well. Vacancies come up all the time, so if you think something else would suit you better, there’s scope for development. There’s always a place where you feel at home.”
